The Virtual Incubator®
A Special Program for Entrepreneurs
Marketing Edge Southwest has a special
affinity for entrepreneurs, and we identify closely with the challenges
of “startup.” We’ve made it a point to “think
small” and attempt to help good, young companies whenever
we can.
This predilection for supporting new
ventures led to MES registration of "The Virtual Incubator"
as a trade name in Arizona. This was a first step toward the potential
formation of a standalone consortium of consultants and service
professionals — to be called The Virtual Incubator —
the participants in which would be invited to join MES as the cornerstones
of this venture.
Our conception of The Virtual Incubator
envisioned a “get down to basics” service bureau and
resource center for startups, spinoffs and other viable entrepreneurial
or intrapreneurial efforts. What’s different about our concept?
For “starters,” it’s not just another incubator
reserved exclusively for high-tech. We know that all kinds of businesses
and organizations need real-world assistance — and they need
it now — not just think-tank speculation based on future prospects.
In specific terms of what MES brings to this table, we understand
that every organization needs marketing of some kind, even if it
starts and stops with basic branding and materials.
As an interim step toward that full-fledged
concept, MES currently offers what it calls its “Virtual Incubator
Program” to clients, which essentially discounts our rates
to help young companies get going.
Someday, clients of a full-scale Virtual
Incubator may be able to “sign on” for various levels
of specialized services from a pool of resources like MES. A minimal
VIP service package will give entrepreneurs access to our business
and marketing planning skills, a resource library, sharing of selected
databases, a specific number of consulting hours — much of
it on-line — but perhaps even limited use of a conference
room and/or physical office space. The Virtual Incubator could potentially
establish an office-industrial location in symbiotic relationship
with MES and/or other key consultants. The Virtual Incubator will
also develop a web-based approach to serving small businesses nationwide,
acting as a portal to various hands-on resources.
