ARIZONA'S ENTERTAINMENT TIP SHEET • May 2006 • Page 3 1st Annual “Seven Minutes in Heaven” Space 55 Theatre Ensemble will present its first annual showcase, “Seven Minutes in Heaven,” beginning June 10. Taking its title from the childhood game of dare—often associated with kissing in closets—this performance aims to harness similar notions of unabashed, unrestrained and unbridled silly, sexy fun. The performers themselves include some of Phoenix’s finest up and coming actors, musicians, artists and, well, others. The only rule is that each performance must be 7 minutes or less. Other than that, anything goes! This endeavor was the brainchild of Space 55 Theatre Ensemble Artistic Director Shawna Franks and her artistic crew, all of whom vow to create artistic fervor throughout Phoenix with this month-long extravaganza. “Seven Minutes in Heaven” will be performed on 4 consecutive Saturday nights at 9pm (June 10, 17, 24, and July 1) and will contain ten action-packed segments. The show will be held at Soul Invictus, located at 1022 NW Grand Ave. in downtown Phoenix, and will be hosted by improv comedian, Bob Fisher. The show will include performances by valley favorites Shawna Franks, Chelsea Monty, Kenny Brodie, Steve Wilcox, Lauren Henschen and many, many more. 10 acts. 70 minutes. How far will they go? Arizona Shakespeare Festival Offers “Caesar” and “the Shrew” Now in its ninth year of delighting audiences, the Arizona Shakespeare Festival returns to the Ruth Street Theater in Prescott July 28 - August 13. This year’s production of “The Taming of the Shrew” is a rootin’, tootin’, shootin’ version of the Bard’s early comedy, set in Prescott of the old west. Also presented is “Julius Caesar” set amid the world of 1930s Italy to explore themes of ambition, frustration, and moral decay… just in time for an election year!
