“Cool”
is more than a state of mind, it’s the place to be on Thurs., July
5, 7-9 pm when the Summer Spectacular ArtWalk returns to the
Scottsdale Arts District, sponsored in part by Toll Brothers City
Living.
ArtWalkers can “chill out” along Main Street and Marshall Way with artist demonstrations, gallery show openings, and live music by Ten Dollar Outfit, Matt Yaki, Rebecca Clark, Billy Cioffi, The Mono Duo, Sean Macdonald, Gradymusic, Soliloquies® featuring Nick Heward, Wesley Hilsabeck and Jumbo Jr. ArtWalkers can enter to win prizes from Changing Hands Bookstore, Don & Charlie’s and Apache Gold Casino. Plus, there will be delicious food and drink samples from Starbucks, Malee’s Thai, China Mist Iced Teas, Lulu’s Cupcakes, California Pizza Kitchen and Cathy’s Rum Cake!

Local Venues Celebrate Their Independents!
Arizona Chain Reaction and Local First Arizona celebrate National Independents Week, July 2-8. This annual event encourages individuals to take the Indie Challenge; to explore our community's independently-owned businesses by shopping exclusively “local” for one week. It’s an effort to keep money circulating in our community three times as long or more than it does when we spend it in chain stores (leaving Arizona immediately for somewhere else). Among the usual participants are Changing Hands Bookstore, Duck and Decanter, Stinkweeds and Souvia Tea.

Minutes In Heaven, Part Deux
Space 55 Theatre Ensemble’s variety show for the A.D.D. age returns for a second year, showcasing some of the Valley’s best, brightest and/or most disturbing performers... but only for seven minutes apiece. Seven Minutes In Heaven – garnering its title from the childhood game of dare often associated with kissing in closets – begins June 2 and aims to harness similar notions of unrestrained and unabashed sexy, yet silly fun.
Seven Minutes in Heaven will be performed on four consecutive Saturday nights at 9pm – June 2, 9, 16 and 23 – and will contain ten action-packed segments. Location is ArtStageSound, 636 E. Pierce Street in downtown Phoenix. $5 at the door or on showup.com. That’s fifty cents an act. And you can’t beat that…really.

New Scottsdale ArtWalk Dates Announced
The
Scottsdale Gallery Association has announced dates for some of
its most popular annual ArtWalks. This year’s Western ArtWalk
will take place Thurs., Oct. 18. The Fiesta Bowl ArtWalk
is scheduled for Sat., Dec. 29.
But feast your eyes on this all-new ArtWalk event! The first-ever Wearable ArtWalk will take place Thurs., Nov. 1, as a stylish prelude to Scottsdale Fashion Week.
